Jesus said: 'I give you a new commandment: Love one another, just as I have loved you'

Read 1474 Times
The teaching is simple but demanding. Love, like faith, without good works is hard to prove. Relationships based on love are always proven by the sacrifices each person in the relationship is willing to make for the other. Such sacrifices are done willingly not counting the cost. In love-based relationships such sacrifices should enhance love.

So what price or sacrifice are you and I willing to offer to Christ in our daily lives to prove our love for him? In life when a man loves a woman with this kind of love he makes a commitment in marriage. Some people because of their love for the poor in developing countries have given time and energy working as volunteers in those countries. In our own community we have many who show that love by their dedication in helping the community to be a living entity.

Think for a few moments as you look at your life. The gifts you possess and the talents you have, are they used out of love or selfishness? What in your life proves your love for God or other people? Have you made a commitment with the one you love or is your love conditional? Children how sure are you that your parents know you love them. Have you told them recently or have you done something for them to prove your love for them?

O my God, I love you above all things , because you are infinitely good and for your sake I love my neighbour as myself. Amen
