Actions and Consequences.

I’m sure we have all been out for a pub meal at some time or other and although excellent value for money, they can have unforeseen consequences, as the following little story will illustrate:-

A routine police patrol car was parked in a lay-by overlooking a pub car park. It was late in the evening when the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely stand. The man stumbled around the car park for several minutes, as if looking for his car. After what seemed like an eternity, having tried his keys in five other vehicles, the man found his own car, opened the door and fell inside. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the pub and drove off home. Finally, he started the car, switched the wipers on and off a few times, did the same with the indicators and lights before tooting his horn a few times and moving forward a few yards and then reversing a short distance, where he remained stationary until the last of the cars had left the car park. At last he pulled out of the car park and drove carefully down the road.

The police officer put on his blue lights and siren and pulled the car over, he said to the man, “Good evening sir, I have reason to believe that you have consumed alcohol and I must require you to provide a specimen of your breath,” and he carried out a breath test on the man, but the breathalyser indicated no evidence of the man’s intoxication at all. “I can’t understand it,” said the policeman, “When you got into your car you were so drunk you could hardly stand up, so I have to conclude that my equipment is obviously faulty and you will have to accompany me to the police station for another breath test.” “I don’t think your equipment is faulty at all,” said the man with a smile, “I haven’t had a drink all night, but I am on the rota as this evenings dedicated decoy.”
